Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification may be obtained by attending a 2 day course. In addition, you must pass the written and the practical exam. The class material covers the basics of CPR to the advanced teachings of the full resuscitation of the pediatric patient.
Hospitals have most of their medical staff certified in PALS within 3 months of their hire date. This course helps the health care provider to participate in the resuscitation of a pediatric patient. The algorithms help everyone to understand what role they play and what is required of each individual.
