The medical community has placed great emphasis on the prevention of sudden cardiac arrest. Why Americans are on the up and up on being healthy, there is still great concern for for the treatment of the Cardiac Arrest patient. We as EMTs and Paramedics have a duty to educate our communities on the prevention of this terrible tragedy.

Grady Hospital has made great strides in treating Coronary Artery Disease and the recognition of patients who are at great risk of cardiac arrest. The studies show a survival rate of 6.4% for victims that are found in Asystole. The lethal rhythm is nearly impossible to reverse once the patient has entered into sudden cardiac arrest. As Technology progresses, we hope to see a decrease in the loss of life.
